Unique ways to color Easter eggs

Easter is almost here, and that means decorative baskets, egg hunting, and lots of sugar for kids. In many families, it is a tradition to decorate eggs on Easter. There are many different ways to decorate Easter eggs from paint, to shaving cream, or food coloring.

The first unique way to decorate Easter eggs is by using nail polish. To marble eggs with nail polish, you’ll need hard boiled eggs, multiple shades of nail polish, a plastic cup or bowl filled with room temperature water, and toothpicks. Take your nail polish and

put drops of it in the water. When you have all of the colors you want in it, take the toothpick and use it to swirl the colors around. Next, hold an egg with one hand so that you are only touching the ends of the egg and then dip it in the water, hold for a few seconds and then take it out. Lastly, place the egg in a container to dry. This is a lot of fun, but beware- it is very messy.

A more kid-friendly way to decorate Easter eggs is by creating them on paper and painting them. For this project, you will need white paper, scissors, craft paint, and Q-tips. First, you will need to cut out large egg shapes out of the paper. Next, take a Q-tip, dip it into the paint, and draw whatever designs come to your head. This is a simple and easy craft that can be done by any age.

The last way to decorate an Easter egg is by using shaving cream and food coloring. For this project you will need hard boiled eggs, regular foaming shaving cream (gel shaving cream will not work), and food coloring. Fill a container with the shaving cream and randomly drop food coloring in the shaving cream. You can either set up different bowls each with one color to create a solid color, or add different colors in the same bowl to create a marbled effect. Next, swirl the food coloring and shaving cream around with your hands. Lastly, roll the egg in the mixture so that it is completely coated and then place in a container and let it dry for 10 minutes. Wipe any excess shaving cream off of the egg after it drys. This method is really fun and messy, and if you make a

mess on the table, no worries! Just spray the table down with the shaving cream to easily clean the surface.
