Trump Delivers Annual State of the Union Address

On Tuesday, January 30th, President Donald Trump gave the first State of the Union address of his presidency at the Capitol Building. The event outlined the President Trump’s plan for the upcoming year and beyond.
The first point Trump went over in his speech was his idea of “America First”. Trump ran on the idea that he would put America first over other countries, and it seems as if he will keep that promise.
Trump spent most of the beginning of the speech talking about America and only America, including on the economy, tax cuts, or reform. Trump is focused on making his “America First” policy a reality.
Trump also talked about bipartisanship during his speech. He called for unity between the country and congress by stating, “If you work hard, if you believe in yourself, if you believe in America, then you can dream anything, you can be anything, and together, we can achieve anything”.
The State of the Union was very well coordinated, with very good stagecraft to go along with the speech. There were many special appearances during the speech, including families who lost loved ones and even a North Korean defector. The visuals and stories told alongside the speech were very emotional and memorable.
Whether you agreed with the state of the Union or not, the president’s speech was a step forward in Trump’s presidency. Trump’s State of the Union was a very eventful speech, and definitely shows there are more speeches like it to come.
