The Darby Theater Presents ‘Twelfth Night’
The Darby Theater brings a classic Shakespeare play to the stage. For the theater’s annual fall production they will be performing the comedic Twelfth Night, written by William Shakespeare.
Twelfth Night starts as two separate sides of a story. Both sides of the story will follow the lives of a noble man and woman.
The nobleman, Orsino, struggles to get the love of his life. The noblewoman, Viola, struggles with finding her lost twin brother after a devastating boat crash. Viola goes through many things and switches genders multiple times. Both of them encounter many unique people trying to find what they’re looking for as both story lines come together. This story written by Shakespeare is also what the classic 21st century comedy ‘She’s the Man’ is based off of. Twelfth Night, is a great way to have a good laugh.
Junior actor Tyler Hessenaurer plays the role of a house steward, Malvolio. He thinks that the play is a great comedy and tragedy.
“The play is funny and sad,” Hessenaurer says, “It is really enjoyable and fun to be apart of.”
Director Craig Lohmann loves to be able to help with the direction of this play. His favorite part with helping out is seeing the kids on the stage.
“My favorite part is seeing them grow. They put so much effort into it and watching it payoff,” Lohmann expressed. “When it the time comes to them actually performing on the stage it’s great to see their faces because it shows their delight.”
Twelfth Night will be premiering in the Darby PAC on November 2nd and 3rd at 7:00 pm. Watching Twelfth Night is a great way to have a good laugh and a good chance to get to see more works of Shakespeare on stage. The theater troupe hopes to see you there!
