The bachelor drama has begun

As the New Year began, people around the country were very eager for their favorite show to start back up. Monday nights have once again become a special night. The show is called, The Bachelor, and it premiered on January 7th with a three hour long episode to start the season off right. The Bachelor is on every Monday at 8pm on ABC. It surrounds a bachelor looking to find love from a group of 30 girls! Bachelor fans start to fill out their brackets and see if they can guess who Colton is going to propose too. There is also an app you can get where you pick a specific amount of girls each week based on how you think their relationship has grown with Colton. You can switch out the girls and receive points if you choose the right girls.

In this new season, the bachelor is Colton Underwood, who was on Becca’s season of The Bachelorette. This isn’t Colton’s first appearance on the show, so he knows what he’s looking for. Colton was heartbroken and wanted a second chance to find his soulmate. For those of you who don’t know, Colton is a 27 year old from Indianapolis. He grew up playing football and ended up playing in the NFL. After his football career ended, he decided to start the Colton Underwood Legacy Foundation which was founded in 2016. This foundation raises money for cystic fibrosis research and the medical attention needed. He has waited a long time to find what he’s looking for. So here is his second chance to find love, and as of right now, it looks like a stressful one.

For those of you who are new to the bachelor world, the bachelor gets to start out by dating 30 girls. Every week a few girls go home from the rose ceremony. The rose ceremony is where Colton gets to pick which girls he wants to keep around and grow stronger relationships with for the next week. Although, his thoughts could change about them very quickly and they could end up being sent home that following week.

Every week, Colton gets to choose one girl from the group to go on a one-on-one date with him. In this instance, it could end up going well and the girl gets a rose and the chance to stick around for another week or it could end up very badly and she goes home right after that date!

There are also group dates, which can get really crazy with all the people he is dating there at once. But Colton seems to make it work and has everything under control.

I talked to students at Darby who have been watching this season of The Bachelor and asked them what their thoughts were so far.

Carli Rigel, who is a junior, stated, “I think Colton has made lots of good connections with many girls so far,” Rigel continued with, “Demi is my favorite girl in the house because she isn’t afraid to stand up for herself since she is one of the youngest. She is also really funny and makes the show interesting.”

I asked Carli who she thinks will win and have Colton propose to them at the end. She confidently shared that she thinks Caelynn will win.

I also got the chance to talk with senior Molly Holdern who watches the bachelor as well. “I love Colton’s season so far because he is very attractive and there is a lot of competition between all of the girls. Colton is a very nice and genuine person,” Holdern explained.

Holdern also explained that her favorite girl in the house is Cassie.

“Cassie stays out of drama and she is super sweet. I think she would be perfect for Colton. I truly think Cassie will be the one Colton asks to marry at the end.”

If you want to get in on all this drama and romance, then don’t forget to watch The Bachelor every Monday at 8pm. You don’t want to miss out on this show! There has already been 4 episodes, so don’t wait until the end!
