The 2018 Homecoming King and Queen are crowned
The week of September 17th through 21st was the Hilliard Darby Homecoming week! Many of the usual events took place, including spirit days, cookout lunch, and a pep rally. The other staple in the preparation for Homecoming is the Homecoming court, where each grade selects two representatives, one male and one female, and then the seniors choose Ten finalists from whom they choose the Homecoming King and Queen.
After two rounds of voting the members of Homecoming Court were finally announced. The female representatives included Paige Baldwin, Natalie Wood, and Teddie Coe, for the Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior classes, respectively. The seniors girls, who were also in the running to be crowned the 2018 Homecoming Queen were Annie Rauch, Erin Cowen, Izzy Wray, Zarsha Khuhro, Grace Hendricks, and Sydney Roley, the Tolles rep.
From Freshman to Junior the boys representatives included Joe Donnelly, Sean Carney, and Jacob Foster. The seniors that were selected were Kai Burmeister, Matthew Turner, Alec Fraturelli, Matt Mills, Greg Montgomery, and Caleb Mosley, the Tolles rep.
After a week of fun events for the court, including being announced at the Homecoming Bonfire and being serenaded by the Women in White and the Men in Black at the Homecoming Pep Rally, the whole court was introduced at Friday’s football game, where they also announced the 2018 Homecoming King and Queen.
Rauch enjoyed being on Homecoming court, and her favorite part was playing the game at the Pep Rally.
After much anticipation, and even a rain delay, it was announced that Grace Hendricks
was the 2018 Homecoming Queen, and Greg Montgomery was the Homecoming King.
Hendricks was completely surprised, but also excited when they announced her as the Homecoming Queen.
“All throughout high school I always wanted to at least be on homecoming court my senior year but didn’t think it’d ever happen,” she shared.
The next night at the dance, the court was announced one last time and they all shared a slow dance in front of the stage.
Congratulations to all those who were representatives on the homecoming court, and congratulations to Grace and Greg on being crowned Queen and King.
