Achievements throughout January

January was a very exciting month for the students and staff at Darby!

The month started off right with the donation of hundreds of weary clothes to the Hilliard Food Pantry.

The Darby Girls basketball team had a great win over Davidson with a final score of 42-35.

Senior wrestler Jacob Cover went 5-0 with five pins to win the Comet Classic.

The Darby bowling team won their tournament and beat last year’s state champion.

Sophomore Josh Larsen had a few words about the rest of their season.

“I think our guys all have the confidence to bowl well, especially since we bond so well as a team. It was truly a great feeling beating Central. I think our guys definitely deserved it,” said Larsen.

The Darby Girl’s swim team won against Davidson and Bradley at a Hilliard tri-meet, and the Boy’s team got second, beating Bradley and losing to Davidson.

The Varsity Boy’s basketball team beat Davidson 48-45, getting revenge on the last two year’s losses. Captain Brice Stultz was elated after the big win.

“It was awesome, we’ve lost to them the past 2 years and finally beating them was huge. It was probably the biggest win I’ve ever had for Darby. This program has gone through a lot in the past 4 years and our hard work is starting to show this year,” Stultz shared.

Senior Dylan Litreal won the weight throw at the OSU Buckeye high school qualifier.

Darby competition cheer received first place out of 14 teams at the OSU competition last Saturday. The team is looking forward to finishing out the season strong with a possible state title.

“Winning OSU was a huge stepping stone and accomplishment for the competition team. We improved so much and we were all beyond excited to have won. Our next goal is to come out strong for OCCs and of course place well at states. I believe that we have and will continue to have an amazing season,” said Senior Meade Akers.

Congratulations to all the Panthers on their outstanding achievements this month. The school cannot wait to see what is in store for the rest of the year.
