September DIY

It’s September so you know what that means! Breaking out the fall decorations of leaves, pumpkins, scarecrows, and more. This fall, try making something new by using materials found easily at home. Something you could make is a pine cone hedgehog. This hedgehog will fit the mood of autumn perfectly.

Materials:

  • 1 Liter Plastic Bottle
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Two Googly Eyes
  • Twine
  • About 30 Pine Cones

I found the pine cones around my house. If you need a lot more, you can visit the local Homestead park. There, you will be able to find plenty of perfect pine cones for your hedgehog. Make sure to find pine cones that are relatively the same size because it will make the project easier and more uniform.

Step One:

Remove the label from the plastic bottle.

Step Two:

Take the twine and wrap it around the neck of the bottle.I recommend to hot glue the twine constantly as you wrap it around.

Step Three:

Start hot gluing the pine cones to the uncovered portion of the bottle. When hot gluing the pine cones you want to add a lot of glue the cones won’t fall off. Another tip is to glue the pine cones only around the bottle half way this is so it will be able to stand.

Step Four:

  Glue on the googly eyes.

This craft is a simple and very low cost because all materials are found around most houses. Hope you have enjoyed making it. It will start the new season off right!
