Senior Isa Quimba is a triple threat.
Isa Quimba is a senior at Darby and has been swimming for nearly ten years. While her skills in the pool are incredible, she’s also extremely talented in the arts as well.
Quimba swam for the YMCA club team until her freshman year. She has swam varsity for Darby all four years of high school, and she specializes in sprints, with her best strokes being butterfly and freestyle. Her relay team freshmen year broke two school records. As one can see, Isa has accomplished a remarkable amount, but swimming at the state meet her freshman year stands out.
“I would say my favorite memory was swimming at the state meet my freshman year with a really great relay of my older teammates and I…. I think we were the first girls relay team to make it to states in Darby’s history, so it felt really special and cool,” said Quimba.
Aside from swimming at Darby, Isa has also found a love for photography from taking Photo1 freshman year with Mr. Volzer. In fact, now, she is the president of Photo Club and killing the game with her photography. She is a freelance photographer specializing in portrait photography. This year she has become quite popular.
“I did a holiday photo booth at Britton elementary school 2 weeks ago….I’ve done 14 senior sessions this year, so it was quite busy, but I got a lot of good experience and met some really nice people,” explains Quimba.
Isa also contributes her creative and innovative portrait style to senior Karsen Davidson’s upcoming student led magazine titled “Critically Optimistic.”
“I use my more abstract/creative mindset for that type of work and it’s very fun to get together with the other students and make something genuine and unique,” shares Quimba.
When Quimba is not in the pool or with a camera, she’s got her head in the books. She continues to be recognized at the academic awards ceremony for stellar grades. Not only does she make fantastic grades, but she also is an active member of National Honor Society.
Isa Quimba plans on attending The Ohio State University or the University of Cincinnati to major in public health. Congratulations on all the incredible achievements and good luck on a fantastic season!
