Orchestra puts on a strong performance at their first concert
The Darby Orchestras performed their first concert of the year last night at Heritage Middle School. The concert started at 6:30 pm and lasted around two hours, which gave them just enough time to let everyone show off their hard work.
All three Orchestras each performed two songs and every song was picked to fit the fall theme. New freshman were excited to play for Darby and experience the new setting, while the long-time members were thrilled to hear how much they have improved over the years, and to see how this year’s music has differed from their previous years.
Noureen Hoq, Junior and Chamber Orchestra member, reflected on how much she’s improved over the years.
“I watched all the other Orchestras before us play and it was surreal to think that I’ve come this far.” Before the show, she said they performed their songs at a ridiculous speed for fun, and that she enjoyed how they can still be funny even before a big concert.
The concert also featured the Orchestra’s annual Spaghetti Dinner, where after the show everyone can relax and eat delicious food prepared by the staff and Orchestra parents. With a dinner and show, it doesn’t get any better than that!
With the next concert being in the Spring, everyone is looking forward to future concerts and watching the Orchestras’ and the students’ progress throughout the year. In total, there are four concerts throughout the year, a Celebration Concert in December, a concert in March, and to finish off the year, a concert in May. For the December concert, band, orchestra, and choir will be performing for one great big event, so make sure not to miss it.
