Movie Review: ‘The Scorch Trials’ is a must see

The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials is an action-packed, suspense-filled sequel to the Maze Runner directed by T.S. Nowlin. The movie premiered everywhere Friday September 18, 2015. The movies are based off of the best-selling novels written by James Dashner. According to IMBd.com, this film made more than 30 million dollars  in the U.S. during its opening weekend alone. With explosions, Cranks, and survival of the fittest, this movie is sure to impress. The 7.1 out of 10 star rating from the public and a 9/10 star rating from me, there’s no question that this movie is a hit.

As a sequel to the Maze Runner, the Scorch Trials pick up right where the first movie left off. After making it through the Maze, characters Thomas, Newt, Teresa and the other Gladers embark on a new adventure, the Scorch.

The desert landscape and abandoned city makes the Scorch even more dangerous than Maze. WCKD, the scientific organization that put them all in the Maze, is now trying to use them and many others in order to cure a contagious disease known as the Flare.

When it becomes clear that the organization is after the them, the group must do whatever they can to escape. They must struggle through obstacles such as, famine, thirst and the many Flare victims. As they take on this new challenge they must each test their strengths and finally decide whose side they’re on.

Throughout the entire film the suspense kept me intrigued with my eyes glued to the screen. The action and suspense kept me intrigued throughout the entire two hours. I constantly had to know what was going to happen next. At times the storyline seemed to drag on longer than needed, but I loved the overall production nonetheless. Both the Maze Runner and the Scorch Trials have been successes and I can’t wait to see what becomes of the third film- The Death Cure. This movie series is a definite “must see”.
