Mother’s Day DIY

Since Mother’s Day is this week, on May 12th, this Do- It Yourself project is all for Mothers! This is a fun and easy craft that young children and teenagers can make for their mom. All you need is some paper, glue, and scissors to make this lovely paper tulip heart, and make your mom’s day special.

Materials:

  • 1 sheet of Pink Paper
  • 1 sheet of White Paper
  • 1 sheet of Green Paper
  • 1 sheet of Red Paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue or tape
  • Pencil

Step One:

With pink construction paper, fold the paper in half (hamburger style). Then, with scissors, cut from the top of the folded edge making a c shape to the bottom corner. Then unfold the paper and it should turn out as a heart. You can always fix it up if you don’t like how it turned out the first time.

Step Two:

Repeat step one, but with white construction paper. This time the heart should be smaller so you can overlap it on the bigger pink heart. Once you cut out your white heart, glue it on top of the pink heart.

Step Three:

Next you will need the green construction paper to make the flower’s stem and leaves. First, cut out a thin strip of the green paper to act as the stem. This should be about 2 to 3 inches long. Once your cut that stem out, glue it at the bottom tip of the white heart.

Step Four:

After you glue the stem, cut out two leaf like shapes with the green paper. You can make more, but we just did one on each side of the stem. You can also use a pencil to draw the veins on the leafs to make them look realistic.

Step Five:

Now, with red paper, we are going to be cutting out the main flower part. We decided to use red and make a rose but you can choose any paper and make it into a different flower. We cut out a medium size bowl shape and then on the top flat area, we cut it zig zag to look like a normal rose shape.

Step Six:

Lastly, glue the red rose to the top of the stem on the white heart.

The perfect Mother’s Day card is now complete and is sure to brighten up your mom’s day. To make it even better, write a special message on the front or back. We hope this was an easy and fun card to make for someone special in your life to show how much they mean to you! Personalize it to make it your own!
