JV Volleyball beats Delaware Hayes
On September 14th, the JV volleyball team played three well fought sets and made a grand victory over Delaware Hayes. This was a great comeback after their first game with Hayes resulting in a loss earlier this season.
The first set began with a rocky start, but the game turned around when Freshman Destiny White made a smashing hit from the outside, going straight for the back line. Another great turn-around during the game was a marvelous block from Juniors Caroline Grady, middle hitter and Alana Hook, outside hitter. The block was in sync because of great communication. The set ended with a win.
The second set was an unfortunate loss despite the many stunning hits and blocks made by Sophomore setter and captain, Elise Neighbarger. Junior libero, Blaize Sheibler, also made many great out-of-system pass sets perfectly to the hitters, however, they still had an unfavorable ending to the set.
The last set began with lots of motivation and determination. Starting off the set was an unbelievable block by Sophomore, Nicole Logan. The set was close until Junior defensive specialist, Maddie Clark, aced Hayes twice and then went to a serve for two more points. Nearing the end, Sophomore setter Maili Bard slammed the ball down to the other sideline. The game ended with great achievement and joy.
Bard thought the team played well.
“We played really, really well like we really fought back and we pushed the worst honestly,” said Bard, “They beat us before and then we came back and completely demolished them.”
The next game is home on September 26th where they will be going up against the Jerome Celtics.
Coach Stephanie Dietrich is already preparing for the next game.
“We’re going to work on a lot of serve receive, we’re just going to do our fundamentals that we need to keep sharp and we’ll be ready to go,.” said Dietrich.
Dietrich and Bard both agree that people should come out to see the games.
