Since January is a really cold month and your house may need some light and cheer, consider making this easy project to brighten up the room. This month, we chose to do a home decor DIY. This wine bottle candle holder can lighten up your house very nicely. It can be used as a table centerpiece or on top of a mantel. No matter where you choose to place it, it will give your home a special sparkle. Follow these easy steps to make it on your own.
The materials needed for this project are:
- Empty clear glass wine bottle
- 1 large candle
- Fake pine leaves or small branch (you can also use real leaves)
- A little bit of glitter
Add the fake pine leaves into the wine bottle. It might be difficult to push them down in the skinny neck of the bottle, but they will look good once they’re at the bottom. We used 3 smaller sized pine leaves, but this can vary depending on what you like.
Add water to the wine bottle with the leaves already positioned the way you like. We recommend filling the water almost all the way to the top but leaving about an inch from the top so the candle can sit in the opening.
This step is optional but it adds some sparkle to your project. Add about a teaspoon or two of glitter into the wine bottle with water already in it. Instead of putting the lid on to shake it and risk messing up the pine leaves, use a long skinny stick so that you can use to stir the water and glitter. We used white glitter so it would look like snow but you can use any color glitter.
Put the candle, with the wick facing up, into the opening of the wine bottle. You might have to shave the end of the candle so it can fit snug.
Light your candle and set on a high counter so it can’t be knocked over and spill. Sit back, relax and admire your newly made home decor item!
If you’re looking for a more simple, homemade decoration to make your house come alive, then this project is perfect for you. Just wait for all the compliments you’ll receive and people asking where you bought it! Lighten up your house with a fun and affordable project. Substitute different items if you’d like to make it your own! Have fun and good luck.
