Hilliard Schools have new texting option to receive important weather notifications
This year Hilliard City Schools is offering a texting option to receive notifications about school closings. Parents or guardians can use this service by opting in on Friday, January 13.
The district is using the SchoolMessenger system to deliver text messages to a parent or guardian’s cell phones with important information about events, school closings, and safety alerts.
On January 13, at 10:00 am, a text message will be sent. Parents and guardians can reply to the message to opt in. Anytime after January 13th, if a parent or guardian wants to utilize this service they can send a text message of “Y” or “Yes” to the school’s code number, 67587.
Parents and guardians will be able to opt out of the messages if they chose. All they have to do is reply to one of the messages with “Stop”. SchoolMessenger is compliant with the Student Privacy Pledge, so the information is safe and will never be given or sold to anyone.
This new messaging option will also be helpful to students. Instead of getting up up early and scanning the news or Twitter to see if they get a day off of school, they can simply turn on their phones and check for a text. Students will no longer have to wait impatiently to hear the effect of the weather on their school.
