Hilliard Gymnastics has high ambitions for the rest of their season
The Hilliard Gymnastics team had a great home meet on Friday, earning second place out of four teams.
Team captain and Senior Chloe Shook shared what goals the team has for the rest of the season.
“One major goal we have for this season is to qualify for states as a team. We have a lot of new talent but also a lot of experienced girls so I really think it’s more of a possibility this year as opposed to previous seasons,” Shook said.
On vault, Shook received first with a score of 8.7. On uneven bars, Shook also won first with a score of 8.85, which was no surprise considering it is her strongest event.
“My strongest event is probably bars. I’ve been doing the same routine for a while which has allowed me to become very consistent with my scores,” said Shook.
On beam, freshman Jenna Hartwell received first and Shook received third. On floor, Shook won first with a 9.25, Hartwell tied for third, and sophomore Caitlin McCann got fourth.
Hartwell tied for fourth all around, and Shook was the all-around champion with a combined score of 35.15.
The team has great spirit, and they love being together, whether it be in practice or at competitions.
“I think our team works really well together, not just at competitions but at practice as well…Although we compete separate routines, I would be nothing without the support of my teammates and coaches. There’s no better feeling than competing knowing that everyone is cheering you on and wants you to do well. Not just within Darby, but all three Hilliard schools,” shared Shook.
Come out and support the girls at their next meet at Dublin Coffman on Saturday at 9:00 am.
