GOLF TEAM HITS THE LINKS AGAINST DAVIDSON
The Darby boys golf team was back in action this past Wednesday with a match against Hilliard Davidson. The match was played at Heritage Golf Course, which is known for its difficult conditions.
Junior Michael Beard said, “The conditions were definitely tough. It was really muddy, and hard to get good contact on the ball.”
The Panthers lost a tough one by a final score of 163-182. The best scores for the match were shot by Junior Adam Tivin and Freshman Jared Wells, who both shot 43.
When asked about the match, Sophomore Zach Brandewie said, “It didn’t go as planned. The golf was not as good as it could have been, but we just have to move on and get ready for the next one.” Zach shot a 53.
With this being one of the last matches of the season for the boys, they are steadily preparing for the Sectional tournament.
Sophomore Nick Stern shot a 63. Stern said that in order to prepare for Sectionals, they to have to “Hit ‘em straight and hit ‘em long”. Stern continued, saying, “We are just trying to improve our play so we can place well at Sectionals.”
The Panthers golf on Tuesday, October 2nd at Darby Creek Golf Course for the Sectional tournament.
Coach Brent Bower had this to say about the tournament. “We have prepared well all season for this and now it’s time for that hard work to pay off. If we don’t make it through, we will keep our heads high and look forward to next season. No matter what, our boys should be proud of this season.”
