Ernie Parke wins Math award

Ernie Parke was nominated by his former AB Calculus teacher Brett Miller for the Hilliard District Honda Math Medal Award was granted to Senior Ernie Parke for studying  AB, BC, stats and Pre Calculus. This award is given to the top seniors in Southwest and Central Ohio who excel in their studies of mathematics. The award gives the winners a $5,000 scholarship to Ohio State University. Parke also studies math outside of class to help with programming.

  “I wasn’t surprised when I won the award. I also was very happy,” Parke said.

  Parke’s math teacher, Rusty Lupis, told about his hopes for Ernie and Ernie’s passion for math.

  “I think it is great that a student like Ernie is motivated and passionate about math, which helped him win this award,” Lupis said. “I hope Ernie gets a PhD in whatever he wants to do.”

  Parke’s plan for the future is to study number theory and to go into computer engineering.
