Darby’s Cheer Looking To Bounce Back For States
Last Sunday, Darby’s tumbling competition cheer team finished third against Davidson and Dublin Jerome. With two weeks left in the season the team is working hard everyday to win another state championship for the school. The last time competition cheer won a state championship was in 2016.
Junior Jeani Bounemany described what it was like winning a state championship and what makes this team different from the past.
“It was amazing! Going undefeated and winning it all with an amazing group of girls was great. Since then we have increased our tumbling difficulty and have been critiquing it to make it clean and sharp. We have worked really hard for this, I’m hoping we can pull it altogether and make a run for states,” Bounemany said.
Despite early season struggles Darby is slowly turning their season around. Placing third in the OCC’s was not what they were hoping for. However, they managed to qualify for states and that is all that matters. Darby has two weeks to perfect their routine for states. If they play their cards right, Darby could have a shot to win states. The juniors and seniors on the team know what it takes to win a state championship. If Darby manages to ace their difficult routine, they could come home with another state championship.
Darby’s Competition Cheer team is heading over to Dublin Jerome at 12:00 pm on Sunday, February 25th, to battle it out against some of the best teams in the district.
