Darby Swim had a great finish to their meet on Saturday, take a look!
Darby Swim had a great meet on their road to states this weekend. The girls finished 7th overall, and the boys finished 9th overall at Sectionals at Kenyon College.
Seniors Lexi McDonald and Taylor Leone both qualified for the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard freestyle. Leone swam a 24.79 in the 50 free for 3rd place, and a 53.57 in the 100 free for 3rd as well. McDonald swam a 24.05 in the 50 free for 1st place, and a 52.36 in the 100 free for 1st also.
McDonald was very excited about her performance and is looking forward to Districts.
“Getting first was really surprising and an awesome feeling, because I wasn’t picked to win. I also cut time which is always great. I’m now getting ready for Districts. I’m tapering which hopefully helps me cut more time off my race,” said McDonald.
All three relays also qualified for Districts. The 200 Yard Medley Relay including freshman Madyson Leone, senior McDonald, freshman Natalie Wood, and senior Halli Reinhard finished 9th. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of sophomore Isa Quimba, freshman Leone, senior Leone, and senior McDonald finished 4th. Lastly, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay consisting of junior MacKensie Stellrecht, freshman Wood, sophomore Quimba, and senior Leone finished 9th.
Senior Riley Brokaw qualified in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.76 finishing 9th, and in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:46.98 finishing 5th. Senior Kendall Jones qualified in the 200-yard individual medley swimming a 2:03.89 for 5th place, and in the 100-yard backstroke swimming a 56.99 for 10th. Lastly, Freshman Braden Bower qualified in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:51.67 finishing 16th, and in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:03.03 finishing 11th.
The boy’s also qualified for Districts in all three relays. The 200 Yard Medley Relay including senior Jones, junior Maaz Baig, junior Luke Snider, and freshman Malik Tarazi finished 9th. The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay including senior Brokaw, freshman Tarazi, junior Snider, and freshman Bower placed 10th. Finally, the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay including freshman Bower, junior Baig, senior Jones, and senior Brokaw finished 8th.
