Darby students have a magical night at Prom

On Saturday April, 14th the wait was over, Darby held the highly anticipated prom night at the Columbus Athenaeum. This magical night was one that Darby staff and students will not soon forget. The prom lived up to its theme, “Red Carpet romance”.

Before the dance began many students met up with their friends or dates to take photos and get food. One group of students, including Junior Allison Williams, went to Hilliard Station Park to taken their photos and went to Tony’s to eat.

“We ate at Tony’s, on High Street and it was amazing,” Williams, stated, “It’s all italian food and we were stuffed when we left, I would really recommend going there!”

Others chose to take photos downtown to be closer to the Athenaeum. After pictures, students headed to the dance for the most magical night of their lives.

At prom, to match the theme, the students entered on a red carpet. The ballroom was decorated beautifully with candles, pretty lights, and a DJ booth. There was also a photo booth where students could take funny or cute pictures with their dates or friends. There was plenty for the students to do once they arrived. If they got tired of dancing, there was a chocolate fountain with fruits and other sweets to dip in it.

Possibly the most anticipated moment of the night was the crowning of the Prom king

and queen. Seniors Jacob Culp and Hannah Baldwin were announced as the winners by Mrs. Brinkley. After they received their crowns, the couple shared a slow dance along with

their fellow court members. Winning prom king was Culp’s favorite moment of the night.

“My favorite memory from prom would have to be my girlfriend and I winning Prom King and Queen,” Culp said.

Culp also has some tips for anyone hoping to attend prom next year.

“Do not worry or stress out about anything. Prom is super fun and if you just relax than it will make it more enjoyable. Do not be afraid to just let loose and have fun!”

The night came to an end at Dave and Busters where the “After Prom” took place. Students wrapped up the evening with a round of games with their friends or dates before heading home.

With the end of prom starts the countdown to graduation and the start of summer.
