Darby comes up short against Davidson
Darby fell just short of defeating their rival, Davidson, on Friday, September 2, losing by a final score of 13-10.
Darby started the game strong once again, with a solid running game that Davidson couldn’t stop. It resulted in a touchdown, which was just about the only offensive production all night. It was expected to be a low-scoring game, however, so the low score wasn’t cause for concern. The hard-nosed defense from both sides resulted in a halftime score of 10-7, in Darby’s favor.
Darby’s defense had trouble stopping Davidson’s runs in the second half, and the Wildcats steadily regained the lead. In the fourth quarter, they broke through with a touchdown. Darby gained momentum with an extra-point block, but the Panthers were unable to capitalize and secure the win.
Starting off 0-2 is an unusual sight for the Panthers, but not an insurmountable obstacle. Darby has a chance to redeem themselves in two weeks against Bradley. We know the Panthers will be focused on improving their record as the season goes on.
