Boys Tennis finishes off great season
The Darby Boys Tennis season has come to a close, and it was a great season for our Panthers.
Darby season ended after a whopping three players made it to the District competition, Senior Adam Shrock and Juniors Tom Ohler and Krishna Revur. One highlight of the Darby tournament was a surprise win over Gahanna.
Darby also had one of their stronger regular seasons in recent history. The Panthers finished second in the OCC, with only one conference loss. Every starting varsity member was at least third-team OCC. These member were Tom Ohler, Adam Shrock, Krishna Revur, Chris Long, Shyam Pandya, Justin Knueppel, and Yash Somani.
The coach, Coach Nickel, discussed how hard this team really worked. He explained how these players would stay after games to get extra practice, sometimes playing into the night hours. All of this work really attributed to such a great season.
Another thing the coach was so proud of was his team’s academics. This tennis team averaged a 4.06, and is one of the best teams in the the school academically. The great students on the team include seniors Sean Hollowell and Justin Knuppel. Hollowell was the OCC Scholar Athlete of the team.
The athletic and academic success from this team made it one of the best season in Darby history.
