Bowling team strikes up a win
Tensions and nerves ran high at Ten Pin lanes as bowlers from all three Hilliard high schools competed in a match on Monday, January 4. As the first balls were thrown, the competition for bragging rights for the bowling teams began. Darby Girls Varsity and Junior Varsity both took home wins, and the Panther Boys Varsity won against Bradley.
While the competition was fierce, all three teams were excited to bowl. The bowlers cheered on their fellow teammates and the atmosphere was overall electric but friendly. The medalists, bowlers with the highest individual scores, were senior Justin Clute, who bowled a 353, junior Gabby Iosue with a 295, and junior Karoline Betteridge with a score of 354.
The Girls and Boys Varsity also won against Worthington Kilbourne on Wednesday, January 6, with Zoe Paxhia-Poppaw and Justin Clute finishing as medalists.
The bowling teams hit the ground running this season. The Girls Varsity broke their all-time high match score in their first match with a total of 1674 pins, and their current season stands at 5 out of nine matches won. The boys varsity has won 5 out of 8 matches so far. The next match will take place at the Columbus Square Bowling Palace on January 25.
