“Avengers: Infinity War” Breaks Box Office Records
After a decade-long wait from fans, Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War hit theaters with astounding responses from both fans and critics. The movie broke opening weekend box office records globally, raking in $641 million, beating out last years The Fate of the Furious by over $100 million dollars. It also destroyed the domestic record as well, making $258 million dollars, which beat out 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which made $248 million. The movie was also very popular with critics, with an average rating of around 88%.
The film follows Marvel’s Avengers and other Allies from across the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) as they fight their most powerful villain yet. The evil villain Thanos plans to collect all six infinity stones, crystals with immense power that predate the universe itself, and use them to inflict his will upon everything. The film, which includes 24 heroes from Marvel’s movies, puts the fate of the entire universe into the hands of the protagonists.
The film is an amazing piece of cinema, and is riddled with great moments and intense plot-twists that are very unlike Marvel’s previous movies. It manages to mix in comedy with heart-wrenching scenes to create a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the movie. The only real complaint I had was that it seemed a little rushed a some points, though this is understandable, with all of the characters that they had to introduce and develop upon. It is one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time, and is easily one of my favorite, if not my favorite Marvel movie to date, I give it a perfect 10/10.
